Composite Veneers Warrington

Composite veneers are a great solution for fixing chipping or discolouration. They can also be used to help with changing the appearance of your teeth with minor misalignments of teeth.

Providing a natural, beautiful appearance that is non-destructive to the tooth structure, composite veneers will last for years to come.

At our practice in Warrington, we match the material to your natural tooth shade, applying in layers to the tooth surface and sculpted within your mouth to achieve the desired aesthetic appearance.

Don’t hesitate to book your consultation today to find out if veneers are the solution for you.

  • Veneers are used to treat chipped and damaged teeth, teeth that have become worn down, stained or discoloured.
  • Teeth are prone to becoming discoloured due to red wine, tea, coffee, tobacco chewing or cigarette smoking.
  • In certain instances teeth whitening is not enough to restore their natural colour so dental veneers are the treatment of choice.
  • Veneers can also be used to help with slightly crooked teeth or smiles with unsightly gaps.

THE BENEFITS OF COMPOSITE VENEERS

When in search of a quick, cost-effective and minimally invasive way of transforming the look of your teeth, composite veneers provide the most ideal solution.

Often, the treatment can be completed in just one session. Not only does this avoid repeat visits to the dentist, but there is no surgery or even lengthy recovery to worry about, as can be the case with dental implants for example.

Since veneers are placed over your existing teeth, your dentist can enhance the shape of your tooth to provide a more aesthetically pleasing result. The approach is flexible to your desires, whether you are in search of a natural looking result or something more noticeable.

While some light removal of the enamel can sometimes be required, the goal with composite veneers is to leave as much of the natural tooth intact as possible. This considers your future self and your choice to remove your veneers in the future or replace them with new veneers.

So long as you follow our aftercare advice and maintain your dental hygiene, you should enjoy many years of wear from your veneers. The average patient would need to remove or replace their composite veneers after 5 years, although this can be as long as 10 years in some cases.

When are composite veneers needed?

Composite veneers are very versatile and have a number of use cases where they are an excellent solution for things such as damaged, crooked, or stained teeth, and even gapped teeth.

What is the composite material made of?

Composite veneers are made from a variety of materials mainly consisting of resin and fillers such as silica, glass or zirconium.

Using a custom blend of materials allows the performance of composite veneers to be enhanced based on what each material adds to the overall mixture.

For example, filler particles in composite veneers contribute towards strength and wear resistance, while the ability to shape and polish the veneers is made possible by the addition of polymers.

Should I have composite or porcelain veneers?

The choice of whether to opt for composite or porcelain veneers should consider several aspects. Ultimately, it’s important to determine what is going to be best for you as an individual patient.

Both composite and porcelain veneers can refine the shape of your teeth while also giving you a whiter smile.

Composite veneers are cheaper than porcelain veneers, though also have shorter average lifespans before they need to be redone.

Porcelain veneers can offer a more natural looking result in terms of the shape of the teeth, though can require more tooth preparation. As a result, composite veneers are considered more reversible than porcelain veneers.

When you come in for your consultation, we explain all of the differences and also offer you an individualised assessment. Our recommendations will be based on what you are looking to achieve along with your overall suitability for either treatment option.

Do composite veneers look natural?

If you desire a natural looking result to composite veneers, then this is something we can achieve for you in terms of the shape and colour of the veneers. However, for the most natural looking result, porcelain veneers may prove more favourable.

Alternatively, some patients are in search of a whiter and more noticeable change to their smile through the use of veneers. Therefore, composite veneers also offer flexibility depending on your stylistic preferences.

How much do composite veneers cost?

Composite veneers at our Warrington clinic start at £350 per tooth.

We also have other options available whether you simply require edge bonding or are looking to get veneers for several teeth. For instance, our precision composite bonded veneers start at £2,750 for 6 teeth.

Overall, composite veneers offer a cost effective option compared with porcelain veneers.

How long do composite veneers last?

With the proper care and attention, we would expect your composite veneers to last for 5 years.

However, this timeframe can be longer or shorter depending on how well you look after your veneers.

To maximise the longevity of composite veneers, it’s important to follow a daily dental routine which involves brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste and flossing at least once a day. You will also need to schedule regular visits with our dental hygienist.

You should not consume hard or sticky foods, or use your teeth for actions which may stress the veneers such as opening bottles or biting sellotape.

Other essential tips involve avoiding smoking along with foods or drinks that may stain your teeth. Limiting acidic foods can also keep both the veneers and your natural teeth healthy.

If you grind your teeth at night then you will need to wear a mouthguard.

How are they fitted?

Composite veneers are bonded to your teeth. Your dentist will ensure that the surface is clean to provide a secure bond, drying your tooth to remove any excess moisture and then apply a bonding agent.

One the tooth is ready, your dentist will then begin to layer composite material, skilfully crafting and sculpting your tooth shape, removing any excess before finally smooth and polishing the finished tooth.

Are there alternatives?

There are indeed alternatives to using composite for veneers, as well as alternatives to veneers in general.

In terms of veneers, these can be made from composite or porcelain. It’s also possible to customise the treatment so that we only perform a small repair to the tooth rather than covering the entire tooth.

Outside of veneers, we perform a wide variety of cosmetic dental treatments that may offer an alternative solution to your concern.

For instance, if you are in search of whiter teeth, then teeth whitening would lighten the shade of your natural teeth. However, unlike getting veneers, the shape of your natural teeth would remain the same.

Likewise, dental crowns can be used to restore functionality to the tooth as well as improve its appearance. If veneers wouldn’t provide enough structure or protection for the tooth, then a crown could be a better alternative.

I am a wheelchair user and today had my check up at High Street Smiles. Usually a friend or family accompany me but today I made the journey by taxi. Upon arrival the ramp, was put, a member of staff assisted me from the taxi to my chair and ensured I got in the building safely. Everyone was so helpful, my chair wasn't a problem, the dentist took extra care as I cannot lie as flat as most patients can. Thank you all.
